Roses Necklace by Marjorie Barnes

There was a time in my life when I was only familiar with roses being given in bouquets as gifts and symbols of love, or in fragrant and richly colored gardens to be curated, protected and visited in admiration.  Once I became fortunate to travel around the world, I remember being stunned by the casual beauty of rose petals scattered across the pavement in Asian cities … leading to the inspiration that, when looked at a certain way, the entire world is indeed a beautiful garden of roses.

Technique: Peyote stitch and netting.

Magnolia Pendant by Erin Simonetti

One Day Class includes complimentary private Facebook group.

Level: Intermediate to Advanced: Must have been introduced to Weaving and Waning.

Technique: Bead Loom Woven and Waned

Erin will demonstrate and instruct all aspects, methods, and techniques to weave this “Magnolia Pendant”, on the bead loom. The petals require various shapes to create the intricate folds of each petal. Having prior knowledge of Waning Warps is strongly suggested. The petals will be shaped in ways to lift each and secure to a ‘cork’ backing, unlike shown in the photo. The center of the flower may be a crystal or darker pearl finish but will be hand woven to create the total flower center. A 3D leaf will also be woven and waned then secured with the petals, opposed to the 2D leaves shown in the photo. This design requires intense weaving. Some petals are 38 beads wide and others much less, using 15/0 Delicas to acquire the fragile look of each petal. This truly is a must see in person.

This class does require the use of custom designed and created Loomette. This loom offers the availability to Wane the Warps, ending the weave with only four threads: (2) Warps and (2) Wefts. Any loom that allows the weave to be “lifted” off the loom table, and has a short loom length creating shorter warp length, will work as well. This Pendant finishing is with Bead Embroidery Techniques. Braided Leather Necklace will be available and included in the Kit cost.

KIT INCLUDES: 15/0 Delicas, seed beads, crystals, cork underlayment, pearls, Pellon, Ultrasuede, photo instructions, toggle clasp, jump rings, end cap and braided leather cord.

KIT DOES NOT INCLUDE: Needles, 6lb Crystal Fireline, 14lb Smoke Fireline, E6000, Diamond Glaze, Scissors, suggested bead loom, Loomette.

Kalista Necklace by Jayashree Paramesh

Coin necklaces have been worn throughout history all over the world to bring good fortune to the wearer. In ancient times, people wore silver or gold irregular stamped coins with meaningful symbols. Kalista Necklace showcases a pair of look-alike ancient Greek coins, meticulously bezeled with seed beads and edged with small pearls. The bezel imitates the gold or silver granule work popular in the Classical Greek era. A triangle and a circle frame have been added to the pendant as a nod to the valuable contributions to geometry made by the ancient Greeks. The pendant hangs from a simple, hubble-stitched strap and is finished with a clasp. To make it more fun, both sides of the coin show different images. Choose which side to wear according to the mood of the day. Coin necklaces are back in fashion, why not make one or more for yourself? This elegant necklace will be a great addition to your jewel box!

Techniques: Peyote and Hubble stitch.

Length: 18” long, not including pendant. Pendant is 3” long and 1 ½” wide.

Suitable for Intermediate level beaders.
