HASKELL BY SHERRY SERAFINI

Named after one of my favorite jewelry creators of the past….Miriam Haskell. I channeled her work while creating this design. I can “see” it on Bette Davis or Ava Gardner, one of the lovely ladies of the wonderful movies of the past. Two hole beads, wooden ring wrapped in sari ribbon (love these little wooden rings….they add depth!), metals, chains and cup chain add tons of interest to this piece.
Techniques: Peyote stitch, bead embroidery, backstitching.

DAVIDA CUFF BY SHERRY SERAFINI

Beautiful piece of three dimensional beaded artwork that of course could be a pendant if desired. Wooden ring (requires peyote stitch), two hole beads and metal are layered onto a lovely piece of cork fabric. Bead embroidery and peyote stitch are the main stitches to create this piece. Slide bar closure secures the cuff.
Techniques: Peyote stitch, bead embroidery, backstitching.

CLAMITY THE LIL’ BAG BY SHERRY SERAFINI

Cute little bag that uses lots of cabs and a BIG metal shell as the focal!!! Students will actually construct the bag from start to finish. Bag is made of Ultrasuede. Clammity measures about 5”x7”, so it can hold smaller objects. Fringe, tassel and a cord finish the piece. 1-DAY CLASS
Techniques: Peyote stitch, bead embroidery, backstitching.

PEARL GARLAND BY CYNTHIA RUTLEDGE

My inspiration, Pearl Garland for Queen Eleonora, has three different medallion styles that link together using small, beaded jump-rings and little beaded links. The combination of pearls, seed beads and a fun bead shape, makes this design intriguing in its construction and lovely to wear. The necklace ends in two beaded buttons and a connector loop, to keep the focal component centered. A beautiful necklace fit for a Queen!

Techniques: Embellishing techniques, Netting, RAW (right angle weave)

CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN BY CYNTHIA RUTLEDGE

My design, Climb Every Mountain was inspired by the lovely lyrics of the song. A brass cuff blank is covered in peyote stitch and laced together on the edges with fire polish beads to lend a bit of sparkle. The central component (the mountain) is a bullet CZ, simply bezeled in peyote stitch with a circlet of pearls. Three CZs are bezeled, and connected to each other, to add the finishing touches on either side of the center component. Beautiful to wear and certainly brings a song to mind.
Techniques: Embellishing techniques. peyote

THREE EQUAL SIDES BY CYNTHIA RUTLEDGE

As I look around me more intently, I see the triangle and its influences everywhere. Quite amazing, really. Three Equal Sides begins with a CRAW equilateral triangle with an elevated backing. A beautiful trillion CZ is bezeled in peyote stitch and sewn to the CRAW base in middle of sides for a great look. A bezeled pear-shaped CZ pear adds the right touch to the pendant.
Following the triangular inspiration, the filled-netting necklace follows the theme in the symbolic construction and with starting from the central point of the pendant for a dramatic look. The necklace ends in two beautiful CZ buttons and a button connector.
Techniques: CRAW (cubic right-angle weave), Flat, even count peyote stitch with increasing, Filled netting variation, Stitching-in-the-ditch, Tubular even count peyote stitch

GABRELLE’S MUSE BY CYNTHIA RUTLEDGE

Gabrielle’s Muse: An Elegant Sautoir is a blend of styles. Mixing the look of the long pearl necklaces and mixed chains that were a standard iconic style of Coco’s personal style, my design flows from this inspiration right into the art deco period.
A puffy square-shaped central component with a beautiful CZ cushion cut nestled inside; an open three-dimensional rectangular shape, and a puffy square-shaped pearl drop make up the pendant. Pulling from the design of the pendant, the chain is made of smaller rectangles, squares and pearl cabochon links and worn long, in the style of a sautoir. Coco said, “Keep your heels, head and standards high”, so I think she would be pleased.
Techniques: Bezel work, Peyote stitch, tubular and flat, with increasing Picots and embellishing techniques

BOHO CHIC NECKLACE BY NANCY CAIN

Ethos of the 1960s shines in this vintage piece. Vintage German glass cabs as well as vintage ethnic style distressed and patinaed metal pieces adorn the fringe creating a slight little tinkle as you wear it. Attache the Cab with a minimalist amount of unique beading and attached through the drilled 11mm offset hole. The lower layer of fringe is made with the three strands of tubular netting ‘starts’ creating a strand of little stars. The upper layer fringe are simple strands while the rope is tubular sculptural netting.
Techniques: Peyote and Netting stitches

PARAGON BRACELET BY NANCY CAIN

Paragon bracelet is a simple and elegant design that makes a fashion statement with a Levi jacket or little black dress. Innovative bezeling for both round and oval crystals allow for maximized shine. The peyote stitch technique lend itself to tight structuring in bezeling and clasp attachment.

BOUQUET NECKLACE BY NANCY CAIN

Flowers symbolize a new beginning and because of their varied and colorful appearance, they have long been a favorite subject of visual artists. My bouquet of flowers is suspended by a woven pearl rope that is whimsical and classy. Peyote stitch with Pinch-in-the-Ditch techniques create the 3-dimensional central pendant and the 12 flower rings that grace the fringe.

SANTA FE NECKLACE BY NANCY CAIN

The southwest inspired Santa Fe necklace, while simple appearing is more technically advanced with a rope variation, I call Cain’s Chain. It is an asymmetrical, two-step, spiraling netting variation. I have updated it and added a structural peyote three-tiered open pendant at the bottom. Firepolish beads grace the rope and add swing at the bottom of the pendant.
